To the land of the Kiwis

Another new chapter in life unfolds. 

Turning the page, we finally arrived onto the shores of the Kiwis where All Blacks reign supreme and the scenery breath-taking. We left Malaysia on April 22, 2012 to begin this new journey to Dunedin, New Zealand with close to 100 kilos of baggages and no permanent place to stay. 

We booked ourselves into a cabin that can only fit a double bunk bed and a very small table with minimal insulation and heating for $50 a night and we stayed there for 10 days while we went property hunting.

We finally moved into a flat on May 4, 2012 in a nice, quiet neighborhood 10 minutes walk away from the beach and situated near banks, an asian grocer and supermarket along with many other different retail stores. And now, the church we are happy settling in is also a short walk away. So, thank you God!

Shopping for cookware and utensils is truly enjoyable here... seriously.. we needed to watch our spending as well 'coz the prices of these quality items when its on sale is so tempting. Enamel and cast iron cookware priced below $30 when at home is priced between RM150-250!! Yes... this is the life of a home maker... always keeping tabs on things to fill the house at as low a cost as possible. 

And the other thing we are excited about here is the price of seafood and dairy products... fresh salmon costs $13.25 per kilo and one kilo cheese blocks at $8.80. Beef and lamb meat too is affordable. Can't wait to get our hands on a BBQ grill to fire up those meats for the summer as well.

So in the last three weeks, we have been frequenting various retailers and food stores to keep us occupied. Along with it, taking walks along the beach has been rewarding... the sounds of waves crashing onto the beach and meeting friendly people with their dogs on a stroll.

However, as airy-fairy as it may sound, a good smack on the head will bring us back to reality. There are bills to be paid and a life that God has purposed us for to share His glory with another. I don't have it all figured out yet but near future plans would include getting some form of employment to keep my time occupied while my husband returns to the ship ... his second-home.
